Clarks Bar

Established in 1899 this bar looks great for its age. The big wooden gantry and red and white colour scheme give it a timeless quality that quietly says it doesn’t have to run to keep up with the times.

But it’s not behind the times either. It attracts people of all ages in search of a decent bar that does what it says on the tin.

Sports beam out on screens above that centrepiece gantry and you get a taste of what’s to come outside too actually because of its a lovely traditional wooden frontage that wouldn’t look out of place in a Harry Potter film thanks to the Georgian windows.

As well as malt and blended whiskies it has cask ales and is very dog friendly so if you haven’t been yet, we think you’ll join the ranks of the author Ian Rankin by becoming a fan once you give it a whirl.
